 Daikengo , il guardiano dello spazio (Uchū majin Daikengō?) è una serie televisiva anime giapponese di 26 episodi prodotta da Toei Company.
La storia inizia con l'attacco da parte del pianeta Magellano ai danni del pianeta Emperius. Samson, il principe ereditario di Emperius, affronta le truppe nemiche su un pianeta vicino ma viene ucciso dal generale Roboleon, il comandante in capo delle forze di attacco magellane.
Il re di Emperies, Empel, decide allora di risvegliare il Dio-Demone Cosmico Daikengo, un gigantesco robot inattivo da 950 anni e che si risveglia al passaggio di una cometa chiamata "Stella del Guardiano".
Morto Samson, il re deve scegliere fra gli altri due figli, Yuga e Ryger, a chi affidare il Daikengo. Ryger però prende l'inizativa (per salvaguardare il timoroso fratello) e di nascosto sale sul Daikengo. Raggiunto dall'amica Cleo e da Otoke e Anike (entrambi robot), lascia Emperius per combattere e sconfiggere i magellani.
Nella sua lotta, Ryger verrà spesso aiutato e soccorso dal cyborg errante Bryman che si rivelerà poi essere il fratello Samson, che non era deceduto come lasciato intendere nel primo episodio. Soccorso da uno scienzato rinnegato magellano, Samson fu infatti trasformato in un cyborg per salvargli la vita.

The story begins with the attack by the planet Magellan against the planet Emperius. Samson, the crown prince of Emperius, confronts enemy troops on a nearby planet but is killed by General Roboleon, the commander-in-chief of the Magellan strike forces.
The king of Emperies, Empel, then decides to awaken the Cosmic Demon God Daikengo, a gigantic robot inactive for 950 years and who awakens when a comet called "Star of the Guardian" passes by.
With Samson dead, the king must choose between his other two sons, Yuga and Ryger, to whom to entrust the Daikengo. Ryger, however, takes the initiative (to safeguard his fearful brother) and secretly climbs the Daikengo. Joined by her friend Cleo and by Otoke and Anike (both robots), she leaves Emperius to fight and defeat the Magellans.
In his fight, Ryger will often be aided and rescued by the wandering cyborg Bryman who turns out to be his brother Samson, who was not dead as implied in the first episode. Aided by a renegade scientist from Magellan, Samson was in fact transformed into a cyborg to save his life.
